Gijón unveils a top-class Begoña Fair for 2025
The official posters for the 2025 Begoña Bullfighting Fair have now been released. The El Bibio Bullring – Gijón Arena has confirmed a truly outstanding line-up, which will take place from 13th to 17th August, featuring three bullfights, one novillada with picadors, and one rejoneo (mounted bullfight).
This year sees the return of the most successful livestock breeders from last year’s fair: La Quinta, Núñez del Cuvillo, and Puerto de San Lorenzo / La Ventana del Puerto. New to the line-up are La Cercada, making its debut in the novillada, and the Portuguese Ribeiro Telles brand in the rejoneo.
The list of matadors includes major figures of contemporary bullfighting such as Morante de la Puebla, Roca Rey, Manzanares, Talavante, Juan Ortega, Pablo Aguado, and Tomás Rufo. Two standout names will also make their debut in El Bibio: the established matador Emilio de Justo, and the popular French bullfighter Clemente, who is currently enjoying a career peak.
The novillada will feature three promising young talents who have attracted great attention this season, while the rejoneo will be headlined by the number one figure in mounted bullfighting, Diego Ventura, joined by top Portuguese riders Rui Fernandes and João Ribeiro Telles.
